Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America; millions are victimized each year through no fault of their own. In recognition of this problem, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with Arizona Verified Information Destruction (AVID) to host several “shred-a-thons.” The goal of these events is to promote identity theft awareness and education. These events will be held every other weekend, during the summer months, between July and October at different locations in Pima County.
The public is encouraged to participate, FREE OF CHARGE, by bringing their old personal documents and papers to be shredded. By shredding old documents, you can reduce the possibility of thieves stealing and assuming your identity.
The next shred-a-thon is scheduled for Saturday, July 26th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, in the east parking lot of the Foothills Mall at 7401 N. La Cholla Blvd.
This event is open to private citizens only (no commercial businesses.)
